Vietnamese Engagement Bouquet 05/17/2010
I was contacted by a very kind man, looking to give his bride-to-be something special. He is Vietnamese and was going to be having his Traditional Engagment Ceremony the following weekend. He wanted to give his fiancee a bouquet that had meaning. Not just, "5 pink roses, 5 red peonies, 17 stephanotis, etc., etc., etc." I was excited to say the least. It is not often that artists are commisioned to design around a feeling. Well, after quite a bit of research, I designed something for the intended. I love the thoughtfulness behind this. Esthetically, it is pleasing, but beyond that, deeper than that, it is pleasing to the soul. Here is the bouquet. It means "fidelity, joy, uniting souls and of course, love. 1 Comment A Helpful Hint For Daily Life 03/01/2010

So 15 minutes ago the UPS man rang my bell. Wasn't expecting a package, but "oooooooooooooooh exciting, a PACKAGE!" It was quite large, yet strangely light. I didn't know the return address. So my brain is envisioning a bomb exploding as I open it. So the bomb didn't go off.................. What was inside was this. Ahhh, light yet big. Makes sense. I have to give Airgas credit for a creative yet very relevant pitch. It caught my attention, kept my attention and intrigued me enough to check them out. I will need helium service in the near future. For these!!!! Thank you Airgas Retail Solutions! (but please get a website!) You May Need A Toss Bouquet........ 01/05/2010
Royal Design Lolli-Me 12/25/2009
3 months ago on a Monday I woke up, opened up my notebook, and looked at my email, like I do every morning. Oooh a new post from Bakerella! For those of you who don't know, Bakerella is a fun little(wildly popular) blog about the best baked goods ever! Miss Bakerella posts about the cutest and funnest (yes, I said "funnest") treats ever. And the WAY she writes is like she is reading my mind. She's just the best. She even let a guy propose through her site! How cool is that?!?!? Well, this particular Monday's post made me sit up in bed, and then bounce up and down in bed. Look at it! Well I immediately found this wonderful LolliPop Workshop on Etsy and emailed Jenny, the creator/artiste, about having one of those lovely lolli vignettes for myself. I was evisioning a little brown girl with flowers and tools and vases, oh this was going to be fantastic! So I commisioned Jenny to immortalize me, in wooden doll form! I sent the down payment, answered the little questionnaire and waited for the fantasy come true. A month or so later, I mpatiently emailed her, asking if "please oh please was my lolli-me all done?" She assured me that , yes, it was done and she was going to send out a bunch of shipments soon. She even sent pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ooooooh the joy and rapture. I followed tracking like a hawk. "It has left the facility." - Ok. "It has arrived in Philadelphia." - Oh goody, goody! "It has been delivered." - Wait - no, I never got it. What the heck?!?! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. You get the picture. Ok so who has my fabulous, lolli-me, with the customized Royal Design sign? I IMMEDIATELY call the 1-800-uspostoffice-whateve phone number. "We will call you back in 2 business days." - Yeah right, I believe that. "Hey, go TO the Post Office. Wait in line for half hour while clerks talk to each other, loudly, about nothing. Give them my info. They tell me it was delivered. - Really now, then why do ya suppose I'm here? "Oh that wasn't your mailman that day, he was from another station." - I know that, because when he handed me my mail at my opened door, I knew it wasn't the regular guy. When he handed me my letters, but no package! "I'm going to call him and ask him what he did with your package. Give me your phone number so I can call you once I find out." - Great. Next day, no call, of course. So back to the Post Office. "He doesn't know what he did with it." - Are you kidding me? "It probably was stolen, since this is holiday time." - Thanks, that's what I figured too. "You can call the 1-800 number." - Already did. So I leave the post office in tears. Literally crying tears down my face. Someone has taken my beautiful, wonder ful, lolli-me and given it to their grandaughter. I just know it. So while I am cursing mankind, I can't sleep or eat (ok I never stopped eating) and I dream about it. The dream was that I decided to go to the next block and ask the neighbors at 5746 (I live at 5646) if they got my package. Well then the house turned into an Asian market and the two ladies behind the counter said, "yes, we have your package", and said I had to pay them 90 dollars. Huh? It's a dream. Don't ask. Well the next morning I woke up on a mission to find my package myself. I went to 5746, no one was home, so I left a note with my phone number. For good measure, I also went to 5646 on the two next streets over from me. Nothing. "Oh well, my beautiful and lovely lolli-me is gone forever in some rotten little brats hands, broken and dirty." (You start to go crazy when your package is lost.) Well, about 3 hours later, I get a phone call. "I have your package, I kept meaning to bring it to you, I just kept forgetting." Me- "YOU DO? OH THANK YOU, THANK YOU!" I kinda ran/walked to the next block. ( I'm surprised that I didn't go into a full on 50 yard dash, but I'm not in so good 0' shape anymore, with all the continued eating.) I'm so happy to say that my lolli vignette/lolli-me is now in my grateful, happy, excited hands for good. And isn't it cute??????? Hooray!!!!See my logo?!Look at the teeny scissors and foam!Am I cute or what?!?! ;)The Cost of Wedding Flowers 11/05/2009
Every once and a while, the words you want to say are just said so much better by someone else. This happened today. A fantastic floral designer out west by the name of Nancy Liu Chin was asked "Why do flowers/bouquets cost so much?" In a matter of words... Here is her post "Ask Nancy: $12.99 for Peonies Part One" And here is part 2 "Ask Nancy: $12.99 for Peonies Part Two" We as floral designers aren't out to scam people. We are offering our art. We are giving you a piece of our passion. We want the love we have for flowers to touch you, if only for your one special day. ~Necoh Here Are The Pics! 11/02/2009
